Your European MD degree will allow you to specialize and practice all around Europe, including the UK. The studies are also recognized in the USA for the USMLE exam. However, if your plan is to work in Sri Lanka, you need to get your university recognized by the Sri Lankan medical council (SLMC) and sit for the Act 16 exam.

If you’re spending six years abroad, why not do it in a beautiful country with great food, customs, and people, in the middle of Europe? You will be surrounded by the sea, the Alps, and breathtaking lakes in the north that you won’t regret visiting. See for yourself why they call it la dolce vita.

You can spend a semester or a year in a partner university in Europe, doing all the exams and clinical work that a local student would do, and get accredited for them as well. Some universities like Pavia also offer exchanges with the USA.

Non-European students are allowed to work in Italy with their student visa and residency permit. These permits are officially limited to half-time jobs (up to 20 hours/week). Part-time jobs are generally available in bars, hotels, cafes, etc. The universities themselves often offer mini-jobs for students, including tutoring, library work, labs, etc.

Living expenses mainly include housing, food, transportation, and possibly books. Prices can range from 300-500€ per month, depending on the city’s size and location. Bigger cities tend to be more expensive, but cities with a large Sri Lankan community may offer cheaper accommodations and better job opportunities.
